OUCC Email Lists

There are two OUCC email lists:

• "OUCC local stuff" - (oucc-local-stuff@maillist.ox.ac.uk): discussion and announcements relevant to OUCC members living in or near Oxford:
  • Pub nights/ social events
  • SRT training.
  • Hut keys/ sports fed/ stuff that should be in the hut.
  • Random other stuff going on in Oxford.
  • Unimportant caving related stuff you want to share (though consider if the Facebook group is better for this).
• "OUCC all members"- (oucc-all-members@maillist.ox.ac.uk):  discussion and announcements relevant to all OUCC members (surprise!).
  • Caving weekends
  • TGMs/ AGMs (while it's unlikely people not in Oxford will be interested, general meeting means for everyone, everyone has a right to have their say):
  • The annual dinner (this is one event that people do travel to Oxford for).
  • Other stuff that's important/ of interest to people not in Oxford.

You don't have to be an OUCC member to subscribe; they are low-traffic lists carrying only useful information (well, usually), and you are able to subscribe and unsubscribe yourself to these lists at any time.

All OUCC members are on the all members list,  OUCC members who live in Oxford are also on the local stuff list. The reason why we have two mailing lists is because not all OUCC members live in Oxford. People move out when they graduate etc and might still want to cave with us (and it's great when they do), but not hear all about the pub nights /SRT practice /knot tying etc that goes in Oxford.

It should never be necessary to send an email to both the all members list and the local stuff list; that just means people in Oxford get it twice.

When you subscribe, the ezmlm program will reply to your address, to confirm that the address works and hence that you are who you purport to be (and it is not some prankster subscribing you without your consent). You then have to confirm that you are you and the address is valid.
