7th August 2002 - from John Pybus by email
Hi,
I'm in Internet Cafe in Cangas, been looking up entrance co-ords on OUCC site with Rob.
We've all been at the beach in Llanes today. After two overnight trips on 5th/6th expedition is a bit knackered. I'm starting to plan leaving soon. It's a shame, it's been a lot of fun out here.
My 18hour trip on 5th was great. Got up after cocktails (at 9am actually). Underground with Paul at 1pm. 2 hour faff while he recovered his prussic bag, which he'd dropped down an unrigged pitch. Followed by efficient trip to bottom. Easy push of 35m pitch (Hils and Mark (SIE), had almost rigged it, and run out of rope), and I was first past -500m. 300m of lovely OFD like stream passage and another 20m pitch which Paul dropped. By this time it was 9pm. We surveyed out for about 3 hours before meeting Rob and Hils at 00:15 on the way in. We headed out making surface at 6:30 on Tue. Rob and Hils found more streamway and 3 or four pitches. The limit is now a 3 second drop at -650, CJD better hurry if he wants to get here before the cave drops into La Texa at about -750 (current favoured possibility).
We calculated survey data on the beach this morning, and will check co-ords against map this eve.
