This trip to the Peak District will be from the 31st January - 2nd February. We'll be staying in the scenic village of Castleton (look it up, it's awesome!), at the TSG Hut, great for walking and even better for caving. The Peak District offers a great selection of caves for novices and first-timers, but also a chance for those that have learnt SRT (Single Rope Technique) on previous trips / oxford training sessions to put their new skills into action. Titan offers the UK's longest pitch, and is on most cavers' hit list. For those without experience in SRT, a trip into Peak Cavern ofers a great streamway, some challenging obstacles and some impressive formations.
This trip to the Northern Dales (Yorkshire / Lancashire) will be from the 14th February - 16th February. This will be a trip where we meet up with our friends from Glasgow University. We'll be staying at Bullpot Farm, which is near Casterton - and the home of the Red Rose Cave and Pothole Club. It's well-positioned for some great caving trips - including the Ease Gill and Three Counties System (Britain’s longest cave), and is an ideal base for exploring many caves of the Yorkshire Dales.
OUCC trip HT20 7th Week - South Wales
We will be staying at the highly salubrious South Wales Caving Club cottages directly above one of the longest and finest caves in the UK, Ogof Ffynon Ddu There will be trips of all standads available down OFD, and if inclination inclines, other caves in the region.
