Going to the Dales? Going on an expedition ? Don't know the ropes ? - try SRT Training. |
2nd week 5th-7th May: Devon (DSS, South Dartmoor bunkhouse)
This will be a fun Summer holiday like weekend with a variety of short beginner friendly trips. Though if people are wanting something harder, we can visit Afton Red Rift as well which can be quite a challenge.
4th week 19th-21st May: Dales (Bull Pot Farm)
This weekend will be focused on SRT trips and is highly recommended for those who are thinking of going on expedition but need more underground SRT experience. There's lots of choice of excellent SRT trips in the Dales, and the booking system is easy so we can book permits nearer the time when we've got an idea of who's going. Many of the caves have fantastic views, waterfalls, or lovely meandering stream passages!
6th week 3rd June: Agen Allwedd day trip
This was initially supposed to be a Wales weekend, but no reply from CSS. However Aggy is on the nearer side of Wales so I think a day trip will be almost as good and hopefully more people will be able to make it. There's a lot of cave to see in Aggy, but we can also do easy trips there, it really all depends on how far we go. So this should be good for all ability levels. I'm hoping we can have a group doing a more extensive trip.
8th week 17th June: Slaughter Stream day trip
This trip in the Forest of Dean has been popular in recent years and it's one
of the nearer caves to Oxford, so lets do it again. We can use ladders or SRT to
get in (not everyone has to do the same thing), and it can work as a first trip
too. We'll have a picnic by the entrance. There's a nice streamway to splash
around in and it may be possible to do a round trip!
Note that this was
orginally scheduled for the week before. If you go to the Stores to pay for the
trip, if might still have this original date. Don't worry, just pay up anyway
and all will be well.
